Rhiannon Harman: Co-director and Music Co-ordinator
Rhiannon graduated from the University of North Wales, Bangor, with a BA Hons in Music. She then completed a PGCE course at Roehampton Institute for Education and immediately began teaching at an inner city London primary school. Primary school teacher by day, and singer / songwriter by night, Rhiannon fronted several successful semi-professional bands, headlining in various major music venues in London and the South East and gaining airplay on BBC6 Music.
“I was incredibly lucky to be doing two things I adore: teaching and making music. I found that the two worlds nourished each other beautifully. I learnt so much from the children, both about music and about myself. Performing in front of large audiences and writing music with other professionals ensured that I was honing my skills and I took this inspiration and passion into the classroom with me every day.”
Rhiannon went on to specialise in primary music teaching and the performing arts, running orchestras, choirs and instrumental groups in both the state and private sector, as well as teaching flute, piano, ukulele, recorder and voice on a one-to-one basis. Rhiannon has also written award-winning music for schools and theatre companies in England and Germany (where she lived with her family for a period).
Rhiannon now leads a busy life co-running Discover and Be; teaching and having fun with her husband, Jon, their two lovely boys, Leo and Noah, in Newick, East Sussex.
