Casey, Academic Tutor

Casey is a qualified teacher of Maths at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level. In her current role, she is also teaching Computer Science (KS3), takes a pastoral lead in KS3 and runs the Fencing sport programme.

She began her Maths journey as a private tutor in 2010; it started as a favour for a friend’s children and rapidly expanded into helping out with SATs, Common Entrance and GCSE for students in both state and independent schools. Tutoring quickly became the best bit of her working life and, after gaining her PGCE in 2015, she has since been a full-time teacher.

Casey has a special interest in the science of learning and keeps up to date with current neuroscience research evidence and how this can help classroom teaching work effectively at an individual level. She really enjoys working with young people to help them untangle their individual misconceptions, take charge of their own learning and make their understanding stick. She has two teenage children and so understands firsthand the pressures of navigating school life from parenting, pastoral and academic standpoints.

Casey originally gained a BSC in Experimental Psychology and studied Sports Psychology in Perth (Western Australia) but ended up having a career in the UK, in Finance. She has recently been indulging her own love of learning by studying at MSC level in Educational Neuroscience.

When not ferrying her children around for their many and varied sporting activities, Casey can be found trail running or on her paddleboard (with a coffee).
