Jane, Academic Tutor
Jane is a qualified teacher and experienced tutor with over ten years’ experience of supporting children with special educational needs in local primary schools. She tutors primary level English, Maths and speech therapy. Jane works across KS1 and KS2 providing interventions such as phonics, Maths and, for the last two years, speech and language support having completed a level 3 training course.
Jane works as a cover teacher at her school and teaches across the curriculum in both KS1 and KS2. She is a specialist in working with children with dyslexia, dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum Condition and speech and language difficulties.
Before working in primary education, she taught English as a second language to adults and children in the UK and abroad in Greece, Spain, Egypt and Cameroon. She worked for the British Council and was a teacher trainer and mentor.
Jane’s approach is child-led. She focuses on building a rapport with each child and developing their confidence with encouragement and by highlighting their successes. Her sessions are tailored to the needs and interests of each child and - most importantly - are fun and motivating!
When she’s not working Jane enjoys sea swimming, working on a community allotment and singing in a local choir.
