Michele, Academic Tutor

Michele’s teaching career started after training to teach English and Drama in London inner city schools. In those days, Drama was not a popular subject in schools so, after a couple of years, Michele decided to form a Theatre in Education company, writing many of the plays the company performed.

As family life took over Michele ran the youth theatre at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill combining this with supply teaching in local schools.

Having moved to Harrogate in North Yorkshire, Michele was inspired to set up a junior and youth theatre group. This led on to teaching drama workshops on a regular basis in two private schools as well as putting on theatre productions.

After six years living in North Yorkshire Michele and family moved to a town south of Barcelona, Spain, where they all learned to speak Spanish. Michele was involved in setting up drama workshops for children and teenagers. She also began to teach English as a foreign language which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Michele and family moved back to live in Brighton after four years and she spent the next five years teaching mostly English, Drama and Art in secondary schools. Due to her daughter and grandchildren still living in Barcelona, Michele decided to return and spent five year principally teaching Art in The British School of Barcelona.

Michele continued to teach English as a foreign language to children after school. Most of the children she taught still visit to spend holidays with her each summer since moving back to Sussex in 2017!

Michele now specialises in teaching English at GCSE level, as well as French and Spanish. She speaks both French and Spanish fluently having lived in each of these countries for several years. Outside of tutoring, she runs sewing and craft classes for the local children in her village.
