Things to do with the kids in Sussex this Autumn
/The Summer may be fast becoming a distant memory but with the arrival of Autumn comes a whole load of fun things to do with the kids. Yes, we agree; swapping shorts and T shirts for coats and muddy boots isn’t always ideal but we do love to embrace the seasons here at Discover & Be and there is always loads to do!
Knockhatch Adventure Park - Hailsham
While not an event as such if you are wondering what to do on a weekend then this place is a very good bet. It has loads and we do mean loads of different things to do. There are inside soft play areas with coffee available for grown ups so you can sit and let the kids go bonkers on a wet and windy morning. But there is loads of outside things to do, some cool animals, great educational talks and more. So if the weather is horrible or habitable it’s certainly worth a visit.
Spider Saturday at Drusillas - Alfiston - 12th October
OK, perhaps not for everyone but the British Tarantula Society (yes their existence was news to us too) will be hosting an event at Drusillas on the 12th of October. Maybe it’s time to get over those fears with some amazing 8 legged friends and lots of experts to educate as well as entertain.
Workshops at The Observatory - Hailsham - October Half Term
There are two workshops running in the half term for ages 6 - 8. These workshops will explain how scientists learn about the universe as well as showing the kids what’s actually in the Milky Way (the galaxy not the chocolate bar). There will also be some of the usual create and take home sessions. This is perfect for any budding star gazers out there.
Night-time Wildlife Walks - Sheffield Park Gardens - Uckfield - 25th October
Starting at 5:50 pm kids and grown ups get to join a national trust ranger on a guided walk through the gardens. Deer, Badgers and other night-wildlife could be spotted as well as hotting owls! Whats more there is also hot chocolate and a campfire at the end . Booking is describes as essential so get in there quickly.
Whatever you do this autumn with your family make sure you get outside and experience the changing season, it may not mean lounging on a beach but there is still lots of fun to be had!
